I'm currently using a Vaio laptop and it's on Windows XP, the screen is cracked and can't see 3/4 of the screen so it's connected to a monitor. The monitor doesn't turn on unless it says the 'welcome' startup.

The problem is that when i turn on the laptop it makes the start up noise and then it pauses for a few seconds and then the safe mode menu pops up, because i can't see most of the screen i click on the last option that begins with 'start' it goes black and suddenly a blue screen with writing comes up for a split second and it restarts and makes the start up noise. if i use the option that begins with 'last' it does the same. if i use any of the safe mode options, all the commands come up the screen and then it freezes. I thought this was because i left the pc on all night so i turned it off for about 3 hours but it's still doing the same. it was fine this morning but it happened when i downloaded 'atlas' the japanese to english translator.

does anyone know how to fix this? >__<''

oh and i'm currently using a local friend's pc right now.
