Yahoo Messenger- DLL error while installing

I tried to download and install Yahoo Messenger but received two error messages:

Could not load the DLL Library
C:\windows\KERNEL32.DLL. An Attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.

Could not load the DLL Library. One of the library files needed to run this application cannot be found.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Anyone have ideas on this one? I've Googled the problem and not been able to find anything.
