Your PC Protector: won't let me run numerous .exe files, MBam, HJT

    Hello,

    I woke up this morning to find my computer debiliatated by Malware and pop-ups, including a newly installed program called Your PC Protector. Among many programs, an attempt to open results in a menu that asks me with which program would I like to open the .exe ... making them effectively impossible to open. Such files include:

    *FireFox
    *Hijack This
    *Both Malware Bytes and the exe to install Malware Bytes
    *Add/Remove Programs
    *Regedit etc.


    Please advise.

    While I was away from the computer, the wife did a system restore that has returned my ability to open .exe files. I have asked her not to make any more changes until hearing from the experts.
