I have gotten the following alert a few times recently from ZoneAlarm. "Ypager.exe (Yahoo messenger) is attempting to send email messages...do I wish to allow this." I clicked no each time to block because I was not sending any emails from Yahoo or elsewhere. The IP's that were shown on the alerts were 66.163.168.107 and 216.155.193.185 (port 25). I was a bit confused as to why my instant messenger program would be attempting to send emails. It is my understanding (which is quite basic) that email and instant messages are similar...yet different.

I have Win98se (all updates in place), AVG, ZoneAlarm w/Visual Zone, Spybot, Ad Aware, HiJack This, and also use an online antivirus...everything checks out to be clean on my system. In searching for info on this..the only thing I have found so far is a suggestion to get rid of yauto.dll due to a buffer overflow security risk. Am I just not understanding something...or is it strange?

It may be an auto update feature but I would have it blocked for good in any event and do updates manually.

Thanks for your help Mobo...will do. I do usually block the Yautoupdater.exe and the Yserver.exe and do manual updates...I was just wondering about it.
