    Hi Guys
Trying to copy files to a Zip 100 drive. Used to work OK - but now I get a message "insert disk into drive D". But I already have a disk in drive D.
I have taken the Zip disk out and returned it to the drive several times with the same result..?? Any ideas?

Zip drives are pretty fragile, that's why I've retired them from my systems and went to CD-RW for data portability. If you try another disk and get the same response, it's likely the Zip drive is not working properly.

Zip drives often emit an audible click when they fail. If you are getting the Iomega “click of death” it is certainly shot. If it isn’t making any noise take a look in device manager in safe mode. You could have multiple drives listed. Remove them all in device manager in safe mode and uninstall the software. Then reboot and try a fresh install.

It sucks to have to buy an obsolete piece of equipment to retrieve your data. If you know someone with a Zip drive and a CD writer see if you can transfer your data to CD. Probably Staples or Kinkos could do it for you. Then look in tomorrow’s paper for a good rebate deal on a CD burner.
