    Does anyone know of a good software, that is free and compatible with a win98 SE machine, which I can download from the net. If so, can you please provide a link. I am new to zip files so I would like a simple to use one. Thanks in advance.

    Winzip if 'free' almost.

    You can d/l the application, install and use. You will always get a 'nag' screen when you open if you don't pay (register)for it. But it is still fully functional even if you don't pay.

    i like WinRAR, supports RAR, ZIP CAB, TAR, ARJ, LZH, ACE, Gzip, UUE, BZ2, JAR, and ISO.

    Hello.

    There is a program called Ultimate Zip [ http://www.ultimatezip.com/ ]. I have been using it for a while and I have had no problems with it. Good luck.
