Hi everyone. It's nice this site exists.
Ok, I got a trojan (Downloader.Zlob) on my system last night. I'm running AVG free 8.0 as well as windows defender, and the zlob was picked up, sent to the virus vault automatically, from where I permanently deleted it.
But....has it really gone? I hear bad stuff about this trojan, and how hard it is to remove. So I wonder if I can trust the 2 scans I've run (which show no recurrence of Zlob, and show it's gone)
What makes me wonder is that an 'alert' pop-up comes up every time I open a new browser window in Internet Explorer. This never happened before. It alerts me to a tracking cookie 2o7, which I send to virus vault and then delete. Sure this is probably unrelated, but it never happened before I got the infection, that's why I'm not sure.
I have no idea how this trojan got on, except that my business inbox has been horribly spammed for a few weeks by "bank" phishing emails (which I delete immediately. I have never clicked on one of their embedded links, but have to bring up into the reading box in order to delete)
My system is Windows Vista 32 on an HP 530 Notebook PC.
Can anyone advise please? Does it sound as if this trojan Zlob has really gone, as the 2 AVG scans I ran have both come up clean?
I am a beginner, not a techie at all, so though I'm willing to learn, can't handle really advanced explanations.
