I have a slow dial-up connection, I run add-aware regularly, and have a cookie blocker.

I am wondering if Zone alarm is worth the time , as it is advertised for DSL, or Cable..opinions.....Rhett

Yes a firewall is definitely a necessity for constant on high speed connections. Firewalls do however protect incoming as well as outgoing for all activity. Your chance for hacking has been greatly reduced due to dial up but it still could occur. It is up to you wether you would like the added protection.

rhettman5.........zonealarm is excellent, and it wont slow down your connection at all if thats what your wondering......its a lot better than some of the "pay for" firewalls........and lets face it ,nowadays no one should surf the net without one.

Well, I d/l it and installed, followed directions and went to get online, it immediately shut down the "big fix" but was able to check that off, the problem is it said it blocked several ips, gave me no choice as to uncheck, and I can't even get to my start page, or Zone alarms home page ,so I deleted it, still have the installation program, may try again if anyone has a idea as to what was wrong......Rhett BTW My connection is so slow the 10 minute d/l took 22 minutes !! :)

ok rhett.........let me give you a link and see if you can tweak that connection of yours first...........and then you can play around with z/a and see if you can configure it.there are a number of free firewalls out there......tiny personal firewall is one i can think of,let me see if i can find that page for you also.
