I am running Windows Vista Home Premium on a laptop about 2 months old. I have completely removed all traces of the pre-installed Norton 360 program using Symantec's removal program.

I am running AVG Anti-Virus (Free Version Only) I have disabled Windows Firewall and Windows Defender prior to installation, and downloaded the latest certified Vista-Compatible version.

The installer has been attempted "Run as Administrator" and also normally.

It gets to either 99% installed and then the BSOD happens or else it gets to Setting up ZoneAlarm and then the BSOD happens.

I see

and fwpkclnt.sys a bit further down on the screen.

Windows does a full memory dump. I have tried everything I can find on ZoneAlarm's support forums and still no luck! (

What is ZoneAlarm's problem with Windows Vista and any idea what to do to fix it?
I don't want to use Windows built-in crappy firewall!

and yes, I do know that fwpkclnt.sys has something to do with the Windows Firewall....I just want a better firewall than that POS!

Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium
ZoneAlarm Software Version: 7.1.x (Vista-compatible)
Product Name: ZoneAlarm (Free)

Thanks - Just got the same error.

New HP Laptop - AVG and Zonealarm
Dumped when installing Zone Alarm. Yes Firewall Related.

Accessed regular mode and got the same error
Accessed Safe Mode and then exited
Re-access Normal (define Normal) windows Start-up
Appears to be ok.

May have something to do with the ZA shutting Windows FW down. or the HP Total Care advisor. Checking MS Knowledge base for any thread of info.
Watching - Will post anything new.
(Assume you might get more posts after xmas)

I use free ZoneAlarm on both my Vista Business and Ultimate machines. I had one heck of a time trying to get AVG to co-operate with me, so I went with Nod32.

I have a Sony VAIO VGN-FZ209 Laptop.

Not HP.

or as I call them Heavy Paperweights (HP)

Maybe it is related to AVG, who the heck knows?

Merry Christmas to all

Hello Jonseyh09 and others.

I have the xact same problem on My ACER Aspire Laptop.
related to tcpip.sys in my case.
Same error code 0x0000000D1 (implies a possible printer driver problem -
have tried other fixes involving register editing and Printer Spool shutting off and on -
didn't help.
Maybe Firewall related according to your postingshere?
- I have Zonealarm ver
Windows Vista Home Premium

Have tried all the hotfixes I could aimagine being related to the problem from
Microsoft Knowledge Base but to no avail...

Have you found a solution to this problem?
I saw your posting was from December something.

Please answer to this post if you have anything new on this!

Any help is appreciated!

bets regards,

No I haven't been able to fix it....and the lack of help here kinda sucks.:(

If I could have some help from one of the more technical users here I'd appreciate in please re-open this.

Ok I see.
Thanks for your reply anyway.
Could you please make some noise when/if you learn something new about this?
I will of course do the same if I make some progress!

I understand from my research around the net that this is no news for Microsoft!
A lot of people have the exact same or just a bit different a problem.

Some talk about the RAM and defects in the memory hardware or how the memory is managed.
Some talk about bad sectors on HDD:s.
Or otherwise it is clashes between windows Vista and a firewall.
This thread was the one closest to my problem.

0x0000000D1 is supposed to have something to do with a printer driver malfunction,
or so I have read somewhere.
That fix did nothing for me.
I made som changes in the register, and resetted the Printer Spooler - no luck.
4 or 5 different Knowledge Base fixes from MS haven't been helpful either.

What is going on?????!!

Is there nothing to do but wait for the next ServicePack from MS and hope they've found something by then?

Do you know when the next SP for Vista is due?

Best regards,

It has NOT been stated if this is with the use of the FREE or Pro version of ZoneAlarm, so if the user with the problem can state what version they are using it would be helpful.
Also this same user needs to tell us what else is running on this problem machine.
Feb 26, 2008
Had the same problem, after I installed zone alarm and AVG, both the free basic versions. I think AVG did not finish the installation when the blue screen appeared though, so very likely that Zone alarm is responsible.
